Antoni Gaudi’s Architecture
The works of this eclectic Catalan (the name of the region Barcelona is in) Modernist architect are scattered throughout the city including well-known works such as Güell, Casa Batlló and La Pedrera. His masterpiece, the massive basilica Sagrada Familia, has been under construction since 1882 and will ultimately be the world’s tallest church. The 1929 World’s Fair and several events from the 1992 Olympic Games took place on this hill, leaving behind many structures for locals and tourists to enjoy today. You can also find the 17th century Montjuïc Castle along with exceptional art museums, gardens, and dramatic views of the city nearby.
